2010 SoHo International Film Festival Announces 'One In The Gun' as Official Closing Night Premiere

Post-Film Q&A with director/writer Rolfe Kanefsky, Producer Esther Goodstein, star Steven Man

New York, NY – February 6, 2010 – The inaugural 2010 SoHo International Film Festival - presented by Made In New York and the Office of New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, will be held from February 18 – 21, 2010 in New York City.

The festival will close with Rolfe Kanefsky’s neo-noir ‘One In The Gun’ at the festival lofts theater, 394 Broadway 4th Fl. New York, NY 10013, at 7:30 PM on February 21, 2010. This is the world premiere of the film.

Leading film critic, Betty Jo Tucker of Reel Talk Movie Reviews, wrote, “One in the Gun [is] a fascinating film noir with bizarre David Lynchian undertones. Written and directed by Rolfe Kanefsky, this intriguing movie boasts a complicated plot, mysterious characters and disturbing surprises. It wallows in situations involving seduction, robbery, madness and murder. And every time you think you’ve got things figured out, something happens to make you think again.”

Kanefsky, whose works are well known in the horror genre, wrote the script in three months, drawing inspiration from the classic noirs. “Film noir is one of my favorite genres, it truly draws on every facet of human emotion, so when Steven (Man, lead actor) and I were looking to create a project, it made perfect sense and created what I feel was a great vehicle to showcase the range of his talent.” 'One In The Gun' also stars Robert Davi (Die Hard, The Goonies, James Bond’s “License To Kill”), Katherine Randolph (Jarhead, Black Ops) with Steven Bauer (Scarface, Primal Fear, Traffic) and James Russo (Public Enemies, Donny Brasco, Beverly Hills Cop).

Charles Papas, author of It's a Bitter Little World: The Smartest, Toughest, Nastiest Quotes from Film Noir sums it up with “as long as life disappoints, men and women betray each other, and what we need gets us killed, there'll always be film noir.”

“We are honored to present the World Premiere of Manmade Entertainment Productions', 'One In The Gun' as the festival’s official closing night feature film presentation,” said SIFF Co-founders, Luis Pedron and Jorge Ballos. “We were impressed and honored to receive entries from around the world and feel that this film not only met, but surpassed our festival mandate of cutting-edge digital films that honoring traditional forms of storytelling.”

Steven Bauer joins the cast of "One In The Gun"
Noir thriller, brings classic back.

Hollywood, CA - Steven Bauer, widely celebrated for his turn in Scarface with Al Pacino and Steven Soderberg's Traffic has joined the cast of Rolfe Kanefsky's latest flick, the neo-noir thriller One In The Gun currently lensing in Los Angeles under the stylistic eye of Director of Photography Gigi Malavasi (A Simple Promise, Broken Idyll).

Bauer's latest film, How The Garcia Girl's Spend Their Summer (Maya Releasing) with America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) opens theatrically, nationwide this Friday, May 23, 2008.

One In The Gun is a sexy brain teaser of a thriller with nods to classic film noir of the past mixed with a post-modern flair of David Lynch-style surrealism and surprises.

Bauer joins cast members Steven Man (Savage Island, Augusta Gone); Robert Davi (James Bond 'License To Kill''; 'Goonies' and David Zucker's upcoming An American Carol); Katherine Randolph (Sam Mendes' Jarhead, Nicolas Cage's Sonny and Black Ops released May 20 by Film and Music Entertainment); Robert Donavan (Nightmare Man) and James Russo (Donnie Brasco, Beverly Hills Cop and Michael Mann's upcoming Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp).

About the film:
When Mickey Lewis (Steven Man), a homeless struggling artist, crosses paths with femme fatale Katrina (Katherine Randolph), the beautiful rich wife of Arthur Webb (Steven Bauer) and is enlisted to paint their home, a dark game of manipulation and seduction ensues. Soon hidden agendas result in double and triple-crosses that spiral Mickey’s life out of control leading him to a motel in the middle of nowhere filled with eccentric characters (Robert Davi, Robert Donovan, James Russo) and twisted secrets that all hold the key to the mystery of Mickey’s past, present, and future.

One In The Gun is expected to be released 2011.
