“Foreverland” US Premiere at 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival

“Foreverland” US Premiere at  2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival

Vancouver based Screen Siren Pictures, the Award-winning producer of film and television, and Bron Studios, the BC based film production and financing group, are proud to announce the US Premiere of the film FOREVERLAND at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Shot on location in British Columbia, California, and Mexico, the film was produced by Screen Siren’s Trish Dolman and Christine Haebler alongside Bron Studio’s Aaron L. Gilbert.

FOREVERLAND is set to change lives at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival, January 12th at 7:30pm and January 14th at 11am at the Regal Palm Springs 9.

FOREVERLAND tells the story of 21 year-old Will Rankin (Max Thieriot), a young man stricken with Cystic Fibrosis, a terminal illness, who is tasked with delivering his friend’s ashes to a legendary healing shrine in Mexico.  Joined by the sister of his fallen friend, Will embarks on an epic journey down the Pacific Coast Highway to the desert heart of Baja, encountering a memorable cast of characters along the way.  In the spirit of Into the Wild and Little Miss Sunshine, it’s about dreams and the courage to pursue them.  It’s all about hope, laughter, and life’s small miracles.

Inspired by director Maxwell McGuire’s own Cystic Fibrosis diagnosis and a trip he took to a healing shrine in New Mexico, FOREVERLAND, screenwriter Shawn Riopelle's script is infused not only with the authenticity of first-hand knowledge, but with an intensely vivid emotional spectrum and McGuire’s own life spirit.  "In making Foreverland, I wanted to tell a story about the power of hope and what it's like to wake up from feeling trapped in your diseased body," says director Max McGuire.

“I have a nephew who has CF and so was immediately personally interested in the story,” producer Trish Dolman recounts. “I know what it does to a person to have a terminal illness … it puts a ticking clock on your life and gives you a different perspective on the world and your time here on earth.”

Producer Christine Haebler adds, “I was struck by the struggle of this young man, and his journey toward embracing life, the script strikes just the right note…  it’s not overly earnest and the situations Will and Hannah find themselves in lend themselves to levity.  Will may have a razor sharp wit, but Hannah is every bit his match. There’s wonderful jaunty dialogue that goes back and forth between the two, but there’s also a poignancy.”
